Founder Directors - Jonny and Ellen Whisenant
We often introduced Fideles Christian School by pointing to a picture of our children and telling prospective parents that the reason we have a school is because we have four children. Our story began simply with the belief that we were to raise our children to be disciples of our Lord, that they should have a quality competitive education, and that it should be taught from a Christian worldview. Also, we believed as their parents, we were the ones primarily responsible for that task. Over time as we pursued this mission, our conviction of the value of direct parental time and involvement in the schooling of children grew stronger, but we also became persuaded of the importance of utilizing the God-given professional educational talents and gifts of the Family of God (the Church). The result has been the school we have today -- a blending of those two convictions. As we sought to provide a relevant and competitive education, we achieved accreditation with the State of Georgia Board of Regents so that our graduates would possess a transcript and diploma that has recognition equal to any other public or private high school. Since that time, we have graduated students who have been accepted to a variety of public and private colleges and universities of national stature both in and out of the state of Georgia.
Concerning our own story, our oldest went on to get her Masters Degree at New York University and is now a Senior Editor with a national educational publisher, author of several hundred books for children, and a mother of two. Our second graduated from Emory University with a dual degree in nursing and biology and is now a hospital delivery nurse and grievance counselor with four children of her own. Our third graduated from Toccoa Falls College with a degree in Music Education, and a Masters in Education from Georgia State. She is a certified teacher who taught with us at Fideles for several years and is currently in an immersion ministry with the SBC teaching international refugees in the public school system and mother of two. Our last is a graduate of Fideles, graduating as a Cadet from the University of North Georgia ROTC program, and works with a large local Church as a Lead Ropes Course and Facilities Manager, is married, and currently has one child.
We give God all the credit, but we share our story and the hard experience we gained through helping our own children achieve the goals we started with because we believe it is now our calling and mission to assist other Christian parents with Christian education. Please peruse our website, give us a call or drop us an email, so we can give you more specific details on our programs and how they relate to your particular situation. We will be looking forward to meeting you.
